Strong Wishes
FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
Every girl deserves the opportunity to participate in our life-changing programs. Support for our financial assistance fund eliminates barriers and provides fair and equitable access to Girls Inc. programming for all youth.
GYM STAFF TRAINING
Support our gym staff attendance at the USA Gym Regional Congress, which gives them the opportunity to bring the best skills back to our gymnasts.
A-Z COOKING PARTNERSHIP
Youth of all ages are able to participate in four weekly cooking classes through our partnership with A-Z cooking school. Support for this program gives our participants the skills to cook for themselves and their families, the knowledge of how to make healthy choices, and the appreciation for new foods from around the world.
CENTER IMPROVEMENTS
Making necessary improvements to our physical center ensures our girls can grow to be strong, smart, and bold in a safe environment. Improvements include fixing fencing, providing work space for staff, landscaping, picnic tables, and reimagining spaces.
Smart Wishes
STEM LESSON & MATERIALS
Our hands-on after school and summer Science, Technology, Engineering and Math programs inspire girls while teaching them valuable skills. These activities create an environment in which girls are encouraged to explore their STEM interests through fun, accessible, and interactive activities.
TEEN MENTORSHIP PROGRAM STIPEND
Participants in our Teen Mentorship program are matched with a professional woman mentor for a year-long program where they gain
career experience, learn about goal-setting, and plan for their future.
Stipends support microinternships at the mentor’s workplace to help
teens develop helpful leadership and professional skills.
COLLEGE CAMPUS VISITS
Trips to local colleges and universities make the dream for higher education more attainable than ever for our youth.
ON-SITE SCHOOL PROGRAM SUPPLIES
Girls Inc. provides programming not only at our center, but also at local schools. Each day, our facilitators collect their needed supplies and transport them to the school. By helping to underwrite the cost of supplies, you bring the Girls Inc. Experience to girls where they need it most.
Bold Wishes
SCREEN PRINTING MACHINE FOR TEENS
At Girls Inc., our girls are taught to advocate for themselves and others. By having a screen printing machine, they can learn the artistic process of stenciling and imprinting, but also be able to harness their creativity around the causes they choose.
STAFF DEI TRAINING
Our staff has dedicated themselves to a comprehensive DEI training program, which helps us provide inclusive services to the families in our community and the youth we serve, enhance cultural competence at our organization, and ensure an inclusive and equitable workplace for our outstanding staff.
TEEN ADVOACY COUNCIL
We’re launching a Teen Advocacy Council in 2023 to build the next generation of leaders. Participants develop their own platforms for change, learn the history of advocacy, and participate in workshops focused on issues in our community. Stipends for their time help offset the personal cost and time commitment from the teens.
MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS
At Girls Inc., we strive to provide the means of self-expression in all forms. Musical instruments allow our girls to be able to channel complex feelings and emotions in a creative way. Active participation in playing music and music appreciation increases their self-esteem.
