A Message From Interim Executive Director Tom Blabey

To Our Girls Inc. Families and Friends,

This is a year of transition for Girls Inc. of Greater Santa Barbara as we embark on a search for a new executive leader. We anticipate having our new leader in place this fall, and we are pleased to have a Girls Inc. parent as a member of the Executive Search Task Force to provide that vital perspective during the search and hiring process.

In the meantime, we continue to meet our girls and teens where they are: facilitating remote learning in our collaboration with the United Way; providing movement activities and Girls Inc. programming during the day whenever school schedules allow; coaching recreational and team gymnastics outdoors at both our Hollister and Ortega sites; and offering an engaging selection of ongoing virtual programming online.

The well-being of the youth and our staff remains our top priority, and we are grateful for your continued conscientious support of our efforts to maintain a safe environment in which to offer our programming.

Like you, we continue to move forward despite uncertainty during the pandemic. We are ready to respond to evolving plans from school districts and help facilitate a smooth transition for the youth we serve when they return to in-person classes. We are also planning summer programming options to best serve our youth and our families safely.

Though much is still unknown, I want to reassure you of our commitment to continuing to offer the Girls Inc. Experience to as many girls as possible, in the safest ways possible. We will share more information about spring and summer programming with you soon.

Many of the challenges we faced last year are still with us, but I am optimistic about our future. We are a resilient community. And within Girls Inc.’s pro-girl environment, our facilitators model this resilience and strength for our youth every day.

You can expect periodic updates from me throughout the year on our executive leadership search and other news. I also invite you to visit our website and follow us on social media (@girlsincsb) for ongoing news. Please feel welcome to email me at any time.

We appreciate having you in the Girls Inc. family.

Warm Regards,

Though much is still unknown, I want to reassure you of our commitment to continuing to offer the Girls Inc. Experience to as many girls as possible, in the safest ways possible.
