Girls in the Camp Ignite Summer Program spent a week visiting local businesses to learn about the variety of entrepreneurs in Santa Barbara, from construction to interior design to engineering. At Sonos, girls learned how engineers build a sound proof room to test their new speakers and how to build a speaker, from coding to designing. At QAD, girls leanred about how a business operates in 27 different countries. Girls also learned what it takes to create a full software team, from design to product marketing. At Cabana Home, girls learned about interior design and running a company. And at RightScale, girls loved their “remote robot” tour guide and the obstacle course that illustrated how coding works.
Girls concluded their week with Girls Inc. Marketplace: a project where girls worked in teams to develop a product, manufacture and market that product, and sell the product to their peers, staff and parents at the Marketplace.
