Girls Create Their Own Asteroids at Camp Cosmos

SHARE

As part of our Camp Ignite Summer Program, girls attended a one-day science experience at Camp Cosmos, offered by the Las Cumbres Observatory. Girls learned about asteroids, and digitally created an asteroid that they “launched” to hit California. They discussed the impact that such a hit would have on our planet.

Girls practiced their coding skills using Scratch, a kid-friendly coding program. The program presented many opportunities for problem-sovling, project design, and communication. As a bonuse: girls designed, built, and launched their own rockets! Thank you Camp Cosmos for an awesome STEM day!
