One Hundred Committee Scholarship Luncheon

Thank You for Supporting the 2017 Scholarship Luncheon: Inspiring the Next Generation of Girls in STEM

More than 250 guests attended the event at Bella Vista Estate on April 27. Girls Inc. girls held a STEM fair, demonstrating various principals of science, technology, engineering, and math. Honored speaker Gretchen W. McClain spoke to supporters about the importance of supporting girls in STEM education and careers, and life lessons that will support following curiosity and fostering creativity.

Proceeds from Inspiring the Next Generation of Girls in STEM will help offset the $600,000 in financial assistance required to help 400 girls participate in Girls Inc. after-school and summer camp programming at the Goleta Valley and Santa Barbara Centers in 2017.

About the One Hundred Committee:

For more than 32 years, the One Hundred Committee – women dedicated to the mission of inspiring all girls to be strong, smart, and gold – has provided financial support for Girls Inc. of Greater Santa Barbara. The committee’s primary focus is to raise scholarship money to help girls ages 5-18 participate in Girls Inc. after-school and summer camp programs. The One Hundred Committee’s signature fundraising event, held each spring, has consistently raised more than $200,000 each year. Melody Taft was the 2017 luncheon event chair. Stina Hans is the 2017 One Hundred Committee president. See the history of One Hundred Committee Event Hosts, Chairs, and Speakers.
