In Week 3 of Camp Ignite for Teens, our teen girls were onsite at Hearts Therapeutic Riding Center for “HorsePower” – its Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy (EFP). The sessions allowed girls to work 1:1 with Hearts staff and volunteers to practice their patience, concentration, resilience, and emotional control skills. Our teens learned to care for their horses and their needs, and worked on building trust that came with riding the horses throughout the week.
This summer marks the first Teen Summer Camp at Girls Inc. of Greater Santa Barbara. Each week of the nine-week camp is themed around developing leadership skills, building community involvement, cultivating healthy habits, and exploring education and career opportunities after high school for girls in grades 7-12.
Girls Inc. girls participate in the HorsePower program thanks to the generous support of individual donors and grant funding. Continued participation in the program for fall 2017 and beyond is contingent upon securing additional funding. Individuals interested in supporting this opportunity for our girls can contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
